By booking a retreat, you confirm that you have read and agreed to the Terms of Service.
Join us for our first Bonbon Portugal Edition, for a longboard & movement retreat curated together with longboard coach, shaper and surfer Vasco Monica. A retreat designed for those wanting to deepen their longboard practice and improve their technique, as well as anyone curious to try longboarding for the first time.
We’re escaping to one of the most beautiful corners of Portugal, just 2 hours south of Lisbon, to slow down and immerse ourselves in longboarding, movement, and delicious food. 4 nights in the countryside, to calm down and take a break from weekly routines and pressures. We’ll be staying at the charming Cabeça da Cabra, only 10 minutes from Porto Covo and the wild beaches of Costa Vicentina.
Think early morning surfs, long and lazy brunches, walks in nature, beach hangs, and the simple joy of spending time in the ocean and nature. This is a slightly more surf-focused take on our signature bonbon weeks, with extra attention on coaching and progression. Alongside in-water guidance from Vasco Monica and his team, we’ll also have video analysis sessions to help you better understand your surfing and see real progress over the course of the retreat. Movement sessions will be led by Maria Eskitxabel.

The Location
Alentejo is a beautiful part of Portugal, just 2 hours south of Lisbon, with a dramatic coastline, wild beaches, and olive and cork trees everywhere you look. It’s a place that invites you to slow down and relax.
We’ll be staying at Cabeça da Cabra, a charming guesthouse set in a peaceful countryside setting, right within the Costa Vicentina Natural Park. It’s just 10 minutes from Porto Covo and the beautiful coastline. The house was once an old primary school, thoughtfully renovated into a small, intimate B&B by our host Maria.
The food
At our retreats, food is always at the center of it all. Meals are colorful, nourishing, homemade, and made to be shared.
We’ll enjoy beautiful, slow brunches prepared by Cabeca da Cabra, alongside homemade dinners at the house cooked by our holistic health coach, complemented with local wine pairings.

Surf coaching with Vasco Monica
For this retreat, we’re teaming up with Vasco Monica, who will coach us both in the water and through video analysis.
The coaching is focused specifically on longboarding, and the group will be divided by level. We welcome everyone who feels comfortable with a hard board and want to get into longboarding, as well as the more experienced longboarders wanting to refine their technique and work on cross-stepping, flow, and control. Included in the retreat is also one in-water photography session.
We recommend bringing your own board, or alternatively, you can rent one from us for €30/day.

Yoga with Maria Eskitxabel

The surf & yoga
We cater all levels of surfing, from first timers to more experienced ones. For the first timers, beginners and intermediates learning to turn, we offer surf lessons with our amazing surf teachers Johanna and Christoph. For the more experienced ones we have our lovely surf guide Lucas who will show you the best spots around town. We also have a quiver of colorful longboards and cruisers to try out, handshaped by Lucas.
The weather in Biarritz in May and June is usually around 20 degrees during the days and 15 celsius during the nights. In October, the weather is usually more stable and a bit warmer, with temperatures around 22+ and a bit warmer evenings than in the beginning of summer. The water is warmer in the fall than in the spring, so most of the days you’ll only need a short wetsuit. In the spring we normally
recommend a 3’2 long wetsuit.
As both the ocean and mountains surround the area (which is what makes it so special and beautiful) the weather can sometimes be hard to predict. We’ve had retreats in May with +25 degrees everyday and sun and we’ve had retreats in June and July with more rain.
As a common rule the waves are softer in the summer and have more power in the fall, but also this changes a lot. We always have a spot to go to with more sheltered waves if the waves happen to be bigger.
The yoga is a mix of Hatha, Yin and Flow sessions by the lovely Maria Eskitxabel. The yoga sessions are adapted after the group, and take into consideration the surf activity during the day. We’ll have sessions that are more demanding and other sessions that are more restorative and meditative.
